KI-Workshop bei KIBAG

Two weeks ago, I gave a 4-hour AI workshop at KIBAG, one of Switzerland's largest concrete producers. We started the morning looking for repetitive tasks. The CEO ended the day talking about innovation.

Two hours on capabilities and limitations in the morning, two hours hands-on in the afternoon.

Their first instinct was that they didn't have many repetitive tasks.

And on the strategic level, that was mostly true.

But the deeper we dove, the more recurring work surfaced.

The biggest one was in their tender process.

When KIBAG bids on a construction project, there are hundreds of documents to go through. Someone has to open every single one, extract the information, and put together an offer.

Doing that manually costs them enormous effort today.

That was the aha moment. They saw the impact AI could have there, and they concluded it would be worth investing in.

But what struck me most came from the CEO.

He said he'd love a strategy, but it has to be hands-on. Not a huge piece of paper that just creates paper output.

And then one sentence at the end that I found remarkable:

"AI should enable us to be innovative."

Innovation, weighted more heavily than everything else.

We'll now support them in defining exactly that kind of strategy. And maybe soon, build a first experiment together.

Days like this are the most joyful part of my work. A new industry, new challenges, and a management team that commits once it sees the value.
